2003 Sacred Heart Invitational

Memories:

For many of us, this was our first tournament away from home. We rented a bus which we rode out to Sacred Heart in Ct. Leaving by 5:30 am, we were all tired, yet excited, anticipating the tournament. After making a wrong turn that had us driving down a city block instead of an off ramp, we finally found the college. As the day progressed, the gym echoed with the chants of U-Mass.

Adventures continued throughout the day, as we searched for missing sabreists, lost in the underground labrynth of the Sacred Heart Gymnasium. Fearing disqualification, rescue parties were sent, but to no avail. Fortunatly at the last minute, our team returned. Later in the day we quested for the elusive cafeteria to fill our bellies before the scirmishes continued.

By the end of the day, we were ready to return home to New York, having captured victories in both Sabre and Epee, including the Men's victory of Sacred Heart in Epee. Unfortunatly, the bus got horribly lost in the bad part of the city. Crawling from street to street, we finally made it back to the freeway, but not before touring the "water front" district and backing the bus into a fence. Finally on the right road, we relaxed for the ride home, Evil Dead playing on the Bus TV screens. A joyous adventure was had by all!
