Mission Statement (7-25-2000)

What we hope to accomplish with MaristOnline is to bring Marist's students together in a helpful and practical online environment. We felt that there was a huge void in the online student community, and we hope to provide a common meeting ground of sorts. Our goal is to create an entertaining, informative, and observational site where students can get resources, tips, ideas, and share their thoughts freely.

We do not aim to replace www.marist.edu, The Circle, WMCR or any other Marist resources. We feel that the more information available to the Marist Community, the better. I think we'd all agree that freshman year would have been a lot smoother if we knew exactly how to do add/drop, or what the deal with the phones is.

What we have noticed at Marist and a lot of other places is a large difference between thinking of something good and actually doing it. There are a lot of good ideas floating around this campus, and I'm sure we're not the first people to think up a student website, but we thought we'd put it together and see how it works.

Along the way, we hope to keep you informed, entertained, and otherwise feel more connected to the rest of campus. We have a talented team of programmers and writers keeping this thing moving along on the technical end. And most importantly, we have one of the brightest, most interesting student bodies providing input and inspiration. This website was made entirely for Marist Students, with no intentions of cashing in, selling out, or impressing members of the opposite sex in mind... well... 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

All content is by MaristOnline staff, which is not employed by or sanctioned by Marist College on any sort of official level. Web hosting is done by interserver.net which, oddly enough, is not affiliated with Marist College in any way shape or form. We only pay upwards of $20,000 a year to go here... I think we at least have the right to say what we want on a server that's not even in the same state.
